Vaccination protocols can vary greatly from one veterinarian to another. Here is the one we recommend for our dogs.

    PROTOCOL FOR DOGS VACCINATION

In addition to this, you need to know more about it.

The following vaccination protocol is suggested for dogs for which minimal vaccinations are recommended or desirable. The schedule is what I recommend and should not be taken to mean that other protocols recommended by a veterinarian would be less satisfactory. It is a matter of professional judgment and choice.

9 to 10 weeks of age
    Distemper + Parvovirus, MLV
eg Merck Nobivac (Intervet Progard) Puppy DPV

    14-15 weeks of age
    Distemper + Parvovirus, MLV

    18 weeks of age
    Parvovirus only, MLV
Note: New research states that last puppy parvovirus vaccine should be at 18 weeks old.

20 weeks or more, if the law allows it
Rabies - give 3-4 weeks apart from other vaccines

    Mercury free (thimerosol free, TF)

    1 year
    Distemper + Parvovirus, MLV

This is a booster or an optional title. If the client intends not to boost after this optional booster or intends to retest the titles in three years, this optional puberty booster is wise.

    1 year
Rabies - give 3-4 weeks apart from other vaccines

Effectiveness of 3 years if the law allows it; mercury free (TF)

Perform vaccine antibody titers for distemper and parvovirus every three years thereafter, or more often if desired. Vaccinate against rabies virus according to law, except when circumstances indicate that a written waiver should be obtained from the primary care veterinarian. In this case, an anti-rabies antibody titre may also be performed to accompany the request for exemption.
